Discover How Montrose Dermatology + Cosmetics Can Help Rejuvenate Your Skin

The Importance of Skin Rejuvenation

Maintaining a healthy skin texture and complexion is a key component to looking and feeling young. Fortunately, there are a number of treatments that can help preserve the natural glow of your skin to help you look and feel young for life.

BroadBand Light (BBL™)

BroadBand Light Treatment, or BBL™, is a revolutionary treatment that uses filtered light to precisely target either excess brown pigment or redness from sun damage. This type of photofacial technique is a fast, comfortable treatment that can rapidly restore your youthful appearance.

What Is BroadBand Light Treatment (BBL™)?

BroadBand Light: Intense Pulsed Light Treatment for Sun Damage

Your skin is one of the most delicate parts of your body, and it can easily be damaged by sunlight and other factors as you get older. Age spots, redness, and brown spots can cause you to look older than you are. The good news is that BroadBand Light Treatment can help repair sun damage and other effects on your skin to restore a youthful appearance.

What are the benefits of BBL™ treatment?

BBL™, also known as Intense Pulsed Light or (IPL), is a very popular treatment because it offers rejuvenation with literally no downtime. The best results come in three treatment sessions, but patients can see some improvement with just one session. The procedure cannot be performed on tanned or dark skin, therefore some patients find it more convenient to be treated in the fall and winter months.

What can I expect during and after a BBL™ treatment?

For treatment of brown spots, the spots will appear significantly darker, come to the surface of the skin, and slough off with normal daily skin care. This process takes one to three weeks. The skin may appear pink or swollen for a few hours afterwards.

For treatment of dilated (red) blood vessels, the treatment causes the vessels to shut down; and the body reabsorbs the destroyed vessel remnants. Afterwards there is some redness and swelling that subsides within a few days.

Is BBL™ Right for Me?

We are happy to talk to you more about whether BBL™ is the right choice for you. There are several factors that can influence the effectiveness of treatment, which is why meeting with our Certified Laser Operator for a free consultation is important.

**Please note, that if you have a darker skin tone we encourage you to schedule a free consultation to see if one of our other treatment options might be a better fit for your cosmetic dermatology needs.

Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT)

Age and sun exposure can have several detrimental effects on the skin, including the formation of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin-texture irregularities. Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), also known as microneedling, is a minimally invasive procedure that uses the skin’s natural wound-healing response to promote collagen growth.

Collagen is a protein that provides structural support to the skin. With time and sun damage, the amount of this critical protein decreases-resulting in thinner and more wrinkled skin. CIT uses a small automated pen to produce numerous micro-injuries in the surface of the skin to stimulate collagen growth and replace what has been lost. This results in a reduction of wrinkles and thicker, more youthful appearing skin. It is safe and effective for all skin types and colors.

After treatment, your skin will be pink to red for approximately 24 to 48 hours. During this time you will need to avoid sun and dust exposure. Your skin will be dry, and flake, and will require frequent moisturization. We recommend a series of treatments spaced three weeks apart; and some patients opt for yearly maintenance treatments.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are superficial treatments that improve the appearance of uneven skin tone and visible signs of sun damage (including fine lines and wrinkles) by exfoliating surface cells and stimulating cell turnover. They soften and smooth the skin’s surface texture and improve radiance. Peels are also effective in reducing acne by decreasing oil and enhancing surface exfoliation to decongest clogged pores.

After a series of four to six peels you will see the greatest benefit in the appearance of discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles, skin tone, and laxity, depending on your concern and type of peel. At Montrose Dermatology + Cosmetics, we offer a variety of chemical peels that are effective for many skin concerns, either by themselves or as a complement to other in-office procedures.
